Wintery Scene

First of all, I've been playing with various photos to use for my blog header, so it may be different each time you visit. Okay, on with the reason for my post today. . . .

It's funny. I love Summer so much more than Winter but when it comes to making a scene on a card, I seem to do better with the wintery ones. . .hmmm? Go figure. . .

I wanted to see what it would look like to use the Holly stamp along with this cute snowman. Both are from Hero Arts and were two of my favorites from last year. I had fun creating this one!

I had this lovely snowflake paper, which was in my winnings from Vanessa's blog candy giveaway, so I started with that. The holly was clear embossed onto the light blue paper. I then used VersaMark, only on the snowflakes of the snowman stamp and whited embossed them, directly over the already embossed holly. (Hope that makes sense.) I stamped the snowman on a separate piece of paper, colored and cut him out, adding him to the scene. I used Cotton Candy Stickles on the hat, scarf, buttons and mittens. On the top edge of the torn paper, (snow) I added a bit of Clear Rock Candy, Distress Stickles.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Thanks for coming by! :)

Playin' With "Paints"

I loved Sally's video on the Hero Arts blog today and couldn't wait to play when I got home from work!

I knew the colors I wanted to use but did not have those in paints. So, I used two different Tombow markers, scribbled them onto my craft sheet, spritzed with water and used a paintbrush to splatter the background. I also added a few darker pink swipes around the edges.

Then, I did the same thing by scribbling the markers onto my acrylic block, spritzing again with water and stamping that directly onto white paper, to create the colored panel. I used the same colors for my white embossed flower and I also colored the originally white ribbon with the pink marker.

I had lots of fun using this technique!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! :)

Glitzy Glue Dots!

What a fun challenge going on over at the CAS-ual Friday's blog! I never would have thought of doing this on my own. I had such fun using glitter, which I rarely do. I've made two cards for the challenge but first, I want to show you how I created those fun, little glittery dots. Here's a photo:

I used the larger glue dots and poured pink and purple glitter all over them. Then I used a hole-punch, to punch out the perfect circles, to use on my cards. Here's the first one, using the Hero Arts Artists Butterfly:

I colored it with Copics before adding the dots. I had a bunch of dots left over, so I decided to use them on another fun card.

The grayish looking dots are actually a beautiful dark purple color but I was not able to capture it in the photo! This card was made with all scraps from my desk, except for the card base, which I stamped and white embossed with the Hero Arts Raindrop Background.

There is now glitter EVERYWHERE! Even on my (white) cat, Murphy! hee, hee!

It's a beautiful day here today! I've opened the windows for the first time in a long while and that fresh air smells sooo good! I'm heading outside to enjoy it and work in the gardens. Hope you all have a wonderful day too and thanks for stopping by! :)
