Anything But a Card

It's late Thursday night, but I wanted to get this post up before tomorrow. We've got a good friend coming to stay with us for the weekend - can't wait! He's a wonderful friend, was in our wedding and we have such fun when he comes to visit!

So, I decided I wanted to join in the fun at the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week - Anything BUT a Card. I love making bookmarks and have given them to several co-workers for different occasions. For this particular bookmark, I used the beautiful Prim Poppy die-cut from Memory Box. I cut it three different times; once on white, once on the pink polka dot paper and one more time on the green and white gingham paper.

I used the fun technique, that Jennifer McGuire shared on her blog, of piecing the die-cut back together, into the negative space. So fun and it looks really cool too! Here's a close-up.

And of course, I didn't want to waste any of the pieces, so I had to make a coordinating card to go with it, but am only entering the bookmark for the challenge. Here's the card:

And a close-up of how I added the poppies - fun!

Can ya tell I love this die!? Yea, just a little! :)

Thanks so much for coming by - It's always so nice to see your comments! Hope everyone has a fun weekend! :)

Playing With Flowers

Hi there!

I rarely write a post on Tuesday but my schedule at work has changed and I now have every Tuesday off. I took advantage of the quiet house this morning - got lots done, plus a card made - yay!

I decided to play with some flowers for my card. I had some scraps of aqua/teal colored paper on my craft desk and I love that color, so my card started there. I took out a few different die-cuts and a stamp/die-cut set from Sizzix/Hero Arts and went to work.

The white embossed flowers are from the Sizzix/Hero Arts set. The other, handmade flower was cut three times, sprayed with water, scrunched up, then left to dry. After adding the pretty brad in the center, I again scrunched it all up and carefully opened each layer. I haven't made one of these flowers in so long, and it was such fun - made me happy! :)

The leaves are from another Sizzix die-cut called Branch w/Leaves. The label is from Tim Holtz's, Styled Labels, and the sentiment is from the beautiful, Hero Arts set, Good Friends.

Before it was all finished, I thought the background could use something, so I decided to run it through the Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots embossing folder.

It's a 90 degree day here today - not only very hot, but humid too. It's been raining so much, off and on, the last few days, that the grass is beyond needing to be mowed, so I'm off to attempt that - without melting, I hope! (I do love the heat and really like mowing my yard too!)

Enjoy your day and happy creating! :)

Simple Card Set

Happy Monday!

Just a quick post today before heading out, to go work among the flowers. :)

Last night, I sat down, during quite the thunderstorm, and created a simple card set using the Bold Pop Designs set from Sizzix/Hero Arts. I used lots of scraps from cardstock, in a variety of pretty colors.

I inked up the flowers with coordination Color Box inks.

All the sentiments are from one Hero Arts clear set called, Good Friends. I really love the font in this beautiful set and have been using it a lot lately! Now I have a little thank you gift for a friend - yay! :)

Thanks for the visit - have a great week! :)
