Heat Embossing With a Stencil

Hey there!

I want to share a fun technique with you using heat embossing and stencils. I think I first saw this on the Simon Says Stamp blog, I believe for an art journaling page. Maybe you saw it too.

Stencils are all the rage right now - especially with art journaling, but I love that all the cool ideas and techniques we're learning for art journaling can also be used on our cards!

So, here's how it works. Lay the stencil down on your panel, and using a VersaMark ink pad, pounce the pad over the stencil, then lift it up and add white embossing powder, then heat set. To add color, smoosh some Distress Inks onto your craft sheet, spritz with water then swipe your embossed panel through the ink. Love the effect!

So it's the same technique you use with stamping and embossing but with a stencil instead of a stamp - so fun!

Oh, by the way, that beautiful stencil is from Hero Arts and it's called, Large Lotus Pattern. I only used a portion of it because I had a scrap of white paper lying on my desk. (That's why my card is an odd size.)

I'm entering this into the Hero Arts, Stamp Your Story Inspiration Challenge.

We've had some amazing weather this week and it's suppose to continue over the weekend - YAY! Hope you enjoy yours! I'm so glad you stopped by - thank you! :)

Back to Coloring!

Hi there!

It's the beginning of a new week and I'm looking forward to a warm, sunny day off from work on Tuesday - yay!

I've been creating lots of cards using graphic and painterly images lately, and although I love the look and they are really fun to make, I really miss coloring! I looked through my photostream and the last time I colored-in a floral image was way back in May!

So I pulled out a favorite stamp set from Flourishes called, Zinnias, and went to town using my Copics. Felt soooo good!

A simple sentiment from the same set, some strips of patterned paper to match the colors and a few gems sprinkled here and there, all help to finish off the card.

Hope everyone has a good week - thanks so much for stopping by! :)
