Happy Thanksgiving! (a day early)

Good morning!

Today is Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, the busiest day of the year where I work. I'll be heading out shortly for my shift and I'm hoping it will be a happy, fun day.

Yesterday was a tough one. Not enough help was scheduled for how busy we were and without going into to much detail, I'll just say that I never want to go through a day like that again. I let myself get upset, frustrated and even angry. So I have received some wonderful advice from a very special friend, and now I know today is going to be much better, no matter how busy it is. This friend didn't even know her advice made me feel better, but I am so grateful for her kind words and thoughtful ways!

When I arrived home last night, feeling quite rotten, I sat down and started to play with some ink. Always makes me feel better! I ended up with this Christmas card.

It's a fairly simple card because right now my brain isn't letting me do much more than that. ;) The wreath was stamped, using only Perfect Pearl water, onto the panel which I had inked up with Peeled Paint distress ink. I love the effect and shimmer! The fun snowflake ribbon was weaved through two punched holes.

I thought since I'm writing this post, I might as well share another card I made the other day, using a Tim Holtz glass fragment, colored with alcohol inks. Love that technique!

That's it for today. I'm heading to work in a little while and I'm going to remember that I have so much in my life to be thankful for, including this hobby and all of you out there who stop by my blog, encourage me, help me, and share in my joy of cardmaking. Thank you so much! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! :)

Dear Barb
You have made two lovely cards even though you are not in a good space at the moment, I love the Alcohol ink card, the colours are wonderful.
You know Barb,a job is just that, a job, it provides the means for one not to worry about too much, but it can also be stressful and when this happens then you know it is time to step back and look at what is important in your life. No job is worth getting upset about, life is far too short, we need to act, live and stop making ourselves think too much. Now I am sending BIG HUGS to you today, we all have much to be thankful for, our family and friends make our lives SPECIAL just like you are. :)

Hi Barb! I worked a grocery store when I was in college as a cashier -- this was before scanners, ha ha ha! It was mega super ultra CRAZY!!!!! But I learned to have fun with it after a while -- even when we'd run out of pumpkin pie puree, or defrosted turkeys or the worst? SUGAR! Ha ha ha!

BIG large extra mega HUGE hugs to you! And Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Oh Barb I so understand what you are saying. Last Saturday I worked a earlier shift of 10 to 3 and it's usually slow in the mornings. But it was just nuts. There was a huge long line all day and people were so grumpy due to the line. We had enough staff but there are only 3 tills. I let myself get grumpy too but later I realized something for even myself when I am in lines. People need to be glad that they have someone to buy for (not everyone does) and working in a kids clothing store most are parents and there are a lot of people who can't be parents! They should be pleased that they are getting such amazing deals which is why there is such a line, and they should be glad that they have the means to buy it! What I hate is listening to people critique my every move while they are in line. I have a job that I have to do and I am working as hard as I can but I am not a machine and the line never stops anyways! So I understand how you feel. It's annoying how rude people can be and if your under staffed. Because your still expected often to get as much sales! I hope today was better. I love your cards, so pretty with the perfect pearls! :> Happy Thanksgiving!
