Hey everyone!
First of all, I changed my blog header today and it's one of my favorite things in the world! Some day, those two chairs on that beach will be occupied by me and my hubby. We WILL make it happen!
Okay so onto the true nature of my post. I am loving the contest themes this month over on the Hero Arts blog! They are ATCs and Fabulous Flowers and the technique is colored pencils. I made my first ever ATCs the other day and they are lots of fun! The smaller size makes it a bit quicker to work with. I made three more today. Each one uses the same flower from the Hero Arts Blossom Art set with different backgrounds and colors.
This first one is actually a bit bigger than it should be. ATCs are suppose to measure 2.5 X 3.5 inches. This one is close to 3 X 4. I hope the size isn't a rule written somewhere. I finished it and decided it didn't look right so I layered it onto a white background. The flower is colored with Copics.
For this one, I white embossed the envelope pattern for the background and to color the flower, I used a combination of Distress inks mixed with water and my watercolor pencils.
On this last one, the background was shaded using distress inks and the flower was again colored with the combination of distress ink and watercolor pencils.
I also have a card to show you today. It has three flowers from three different Hero Arts stamps. These were all colored using Faber Castell watercolor pencils.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day! :)

A New Challenge!
Happy Monday!
Have you heard of the blog called CAS-ual Fridays? If not, you should definitely check it out! They are all about clean and simple cards and they're having their first ever challenge! It's all about incorporating text into your creation. I never seem to have enough time to enter too many challenges but I really wanted to try this one. Here's what I came up with.
click on the photo to get a better view of the text on the flower and butterflies.
I used Wild Plum and Shell Pink, Alcohol Inks on glossy card stock, then stamped Hero Arts Old Letter Writing with black Staz-On ink, over the colors. I then stamped the flower, also in black. It's from the Hero Arts Blossom Art clear set. I cut it out and added it to the card with dimensional adhesive. I had just enough of the inked piece left over to punch out some butterflies.
I've had a lovely, restful day so far after working all weekend. We had an amazing three days in the floral department. We sold out of every single bouquet and only had a few plants left! Our sales beat last year's. . . .woo, hoo! All I can say is there must be a whole lot of happy mom's out there!
We are suppose to reach 80 degrees tomorrow! I've mowed the lawn once so far and can't wait to do it again! It is sooooo much better than shoveling! Yippee! Spring is here and Summer is on the way! Love this time of year!
Don't forget to check out CAS-ual Fridays first challenge!
Hope you have a happy week! Thanks for stopping by. . .it is much appreciated! :)
