Adding Salt to Ink

Hi There!

Day 8 of Clean and Simple Card Making 2 was a fun one! We
learned three new inking techniques that all have amazing results. I chose to play with the ink and salt technique which Kristina shared with us in a video.

Absolutely Fabulous by bdengler4 (Barb)

I used Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans and Stormy Sky Distress Inks. It's pretty cool to watch the salt react to the wet, inky paper!

I'm planning on enjoying a quiet Saturday with some crafty time to catch up with Day 9 and 10 of class.

Thanks for the visit!

Die-Cutting

Hi There!

I've been trying to catch up with the assignments from the Clean and Simple Cardmaking 2 class.

They surprised us with a Bonus Day on Saturday, and it was all about using die-cutting with CAS cards. I remembered seeing this gorgeous card from Shari Carroll on the Hero Arts blog last Friday and wanted to CASE it the minute I saw it!

Here's my take.

Shari used a pattern on her card base with a white die-cut heart. I decided to do the opposite and leave my card base white and add a pattern to my heart.

I used a piece of watercolor paper, added soft colors by swiping a couple of different Distress Stains across it, then stamped over the colors with the Hero Arts, La Letter, in Vintage Photo Distress Ink, before die-cutting the heart. I added two smaller hearts, a tiny bow and some gems.

And since the theme of this card is love and I used a fun, different fold, I'm entering it into the Hero Arts February contest.

I've got today and tomorrow off from work and plan on catching up with class - still haven't looked at Day 6 yet.

Come on by early next week to see some photos of the floral department where I work - looks so pretty all set up for Valentine's Day! Hope everyone has a good week! :)
