Celebrating with Virginia!

It's a celebration!

Virginia's birthday is coming up on December 9th, and she's turning the BIG FIVE-O!! Let's party! If you visit her blog here, you can read all about how you can join in all the fun!

I created a special card for her to help celebrate this big milestone. Here it is, V - just for you!

I wanted to use a few of Virginia's favorite things. The obvious one is the color orange. And do you see where I placed the pearls? One for the exclamation point, and one inside the "O" because that's what Virginia would do! The other element that I know she loves is the sentiment - yup, you guessed it - it's an SRM sticker, and the best part is, it's one from a bunch of them that she sent to me! :) I thought it would be perfect for her birthday because she deserves to have a wonderful day!

Virginia is a dear friend to so many of us in the blogging world, and in the Hero Arts Flickr group. I'll never forget the first time she contacted me with a Flickr message. Believe it or not, I still have that message! It was shortly after I had just started posting cards to the group. Here's what she said, almost two years ago, back in January of 2010:

Hey Barb,

Just saying hi to you! You have been so encouraging to me and many others AND you are so talented yourself! I'm so happy that you are part of this group! As a former hostess, I think this group needs people like YOU!

Thank you so much for the sweet comments. They always make me smile!!

Hugs, Virginia

Isn't that the sweetest?! She made me feel so welcome, and she continued to encourage me in my feeble attempt at making cards. Now I have the joy of hearing her voice each time she calls me. We always have great conversations and I find myself not wanting those calls to end! (Love talking to you, Virginia!)

I want to thank my good friend for always being there if I have a question, or when I just need to share something with her! I am so grateful she is part of my life, and dream of one day meeting her in person! (Scrapfest - hint, hint.)

Happiest of Birthdays to you, V! Sending you lots of love and hugs! :)

Flying Reindeer and back to work . . .

Hi all!

I've had such a wonderful 10 days off from work! I created lots and lots of cards and tags for Christmas, including the one I'm sharing today.

I'll be back at work tomorrow, so I won't have quite as much time to create, or to comment on all your blogs. This is the start of a very busy time in the floral department at work, but I'm well rested and ready to go! Gotta sell all those poinsettias!

Here's my card, using the adorable Sizzix/Hero Arts, Holiday Cheer set. Love it!

Flying Reindeer by bdengler4 (Barb)

The sky is spritzed with Perfect Pearl water, then splattered using Picket Fence Distress Stain and a small paint brush. The reindeer's sweaters are paper pieced and I added lots of bling for this month's Hero Arts challenge. I don't have a cloud die or punch, so I hand drew them and cut them out.

I don't usually blog two days in a row, so if you missed my Bo Bunny Christmas tags, you can click here.

Thanks for your visit! Your comments make my day! Have a great week! :)

Tags

Hey there,

Quick post today, sharing some tags I've created. I'm not very comfortable using patterned paper on my cards, so I thought I'd give it a try on a smaller scale, like a tag. All the papers I used are from the Bo Bunny, 6x6 paper pad called, Father Christmas Collection. I must say, I LOVE this paper! I only stamped on two of them, using a Hero Arts tree stamp, from their Merry Christmas Trees, clear set. The other three are made using only the paper.

I've written to and from on the back of each, and had such fun making them!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone had a great weekend! :)
