Playing With Pan Pastels

Happy Saturday!

I recently ordered some new Hero Arts stamps, from their Starry Nights release and catalog, and couldn't wait to play with them! There are lots of new floral images in this release and I am so happy about that! With the new trends gearing toward more graphic images, I've been missing playing with flowers!

I also received some Pan Pastels and oh, is this medium ever fun! I've been watching Jill Foster in her videos and I love what I've been learning from her! She is so talented! Here is a link to her You Tube channel. She designs for Penny Black and her videos are called, PB&J. If you haven't subscribed to it yet, you really should!

Anyway, I've only played a little bit with the Pan Pastels and I definitely need more practice. The technique I used is like magic but I need to work on getting a better, more smooth coverage.

I first brushed on a layer of the Hansa Yellow color:

Then I stamped the gorgeous floral image from a set called, Antique Gratitude Bouquets, in VersaMark:

You can barely see the stamped image until you do the next step, which is where the magic happens!

I brushed on another layer, this time in Permanent Red, and Viola! The floral image appears and it is so cool!

I then stamped a sentiment from the same set and added a couple of tiny, white, bird die-cuts, along with some white dots with a gel pen. I'm excited to learn more about this fun medium and I'm looking forward to using them on other cards and in my art journal too!

Hope you're having a fabulous Saturday! The sun is shining here for the first time in seven days - yup, that's right, we had seven straight days of cloudy, rainy weather. I can actually (finally) see some buds on the trees and my peonies have started to pop up out of the garden - yay! I'm really looking forward to getting out in the yard and gardens this year!

Thanks so much for your visit! ♥

Watercoloring on Chipboard

Hey everyone!

I hope your week is going well! I've been playing with some watercolors again, getting ready for the newest online class, Watercolor for Card Makers. This time I colored onto some chipboard flowers.

I started by adding a thin layer of Gesso onto the flowers, then white embossed the Hero Arts, Old Letter Writing woodblock stamp. I then added the blues and grays with some watercolor paints. Here's a close-up of the flowers.

I love how they turned out! I added white enamel dots to the centers. The die-cut sentiment is this one from Simon Says Stamp, and that adorable embossing folder is called, Cross My Heart, from Cuttlebug.

We've still got really cold and wet weather today - I even saw some snowflakes coming down not too long ago - yuk! But I am very thankful we are not getting the severe weather some folks have in the Southeast. My heart and prayers go out to all those affected - the pictures on the news are so heartbreaking with so many losing their homes -  it's devastating!

Thank you for coming by - I so appreciate your visits and comments! ♥

Another Sequin Shaker Card!

Hi there!

After creating my first shaker card for the Pretty Pink Posh blog hop, I just had to try making another one. This time, I created a background first with some Gelatos and a bit of water.

I cut apart some of the butterflies from the Simon Says Stamp Butterfly Drift Die and added them to the edge of my MFT circle die-cut. The sequins are a mix of my faves, including some from the Springtime Mix from Pretty Pink Posh.

I used one of the same Gelato colors to shade the Thanks die-cut from Simon Says Stamp.

If you haven't had a chance to join in this fun blog hop, you've still got time! It doesn't end until later tonight (April 28) at 11:55pm PST.

I hope your week will be sunnier than mine - we've had two days of rain and have four more on the way, along with temps in the low 40's- yikes! It's so tough to think we won't see the sun until Saturday, especially after the long, cold and snowy winter we had! I'm trying to hang in there but it's not easy. I'm really aching for warm, sunny weather!

Okay, sorry for the complaining - thanks so much for stopping by! ♥
