Joy's First Challenge!

Happy Saturday everyone!

My good friend, Joy, is having her first challenge! All you have to do is find someone who inspires you and honor them by making a card/project. All the details can be found on Joy's blog here, and be sure to scroll down far enough to find the challenge rules.

I've decided to make a card for this challenge by honoring one of our fabulous Hero Arts hostesses, Heather! On the Hero Arts blog this past week, Heather shared her beautiful gift wrapped packages. I've always loved Heather's work, especially when she uses vellum! So I've made a card using the Blossom Art set by Hero Arts and stamping, then white embossing, one of the flowers on vellum.

I used three different layers for the flower. The sentiment is a clear one, also from Hero Arts, and I curved it on my acrylic block so it would align with the curve of my scalloped, circle card base.

Thank you, Heather, for you amazing talent, beautiful work and wonderful inspiration!

Come and join the fun by playing along in Joy's challenge! I know you can all think of at least one person that inspires you!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! :)

March CCC

Hello everyone!

There's still time to enter my giveaway! You can find it here.

I had the pleasure of making and sending a card to Daria this month, for Deborah's Card Chain Challenge. I followed the sketch again this time.

The Nestie shape was cut from a beautiful piece that Sue sent to me recently. Thank you Sue! I used the Hero Arts Raindrop Background for the dots and the sentiment is from the Thinking of You set. I cut apart the "Hi" and "There" so it would fit into the scalloped circle.

I love playing along in the CCC each month! If you haven't ever tried this challenge, you really should! It's so easy! You just make a card to send to someone, somewhere else in the world and it's so fun to receive one too! You can check out all the details on Deborah's blog here.

Thanks for popping in! Hope you all get some crafty time today! :)

A Fun Flower

Happy weekend, everyone!

Enter giveaway here.

I still have three more days of time-off left. It's been a very much needed, relaxing week. Once I'm back at work, I'll be gearing up for Easter and Mother's Day. . .two huge holidays in my little floral department. I'll be rested and ready to go. . .

We've had beautiful weather this week too (by Minnesota standards.) It's been right around 50 degrees and sunny. All the mounds of snow are melting fast but have heard we may get some snow again on Tuesday. At least it doesn't stick around too long this time of year. March is always a month where winter and spring fight back and forth with each other. Come on spring, I'm rooting for you!

So today I wanted to share the rolled, ribbon flower I've made after watching Hostess, Anita's video on the Hero Arts blog. You can see it here. Anita did a fabulous job, showing how to make these beautiful flowers! I decided to make my flower out of two different, coordinating ribbons and layer them together with a paper flower on top.

I used a Martha Stewart butterfly, border punch and the Traditional Butterfly stamp from Hero Arts. I love the tiny, punched out butterflies and just had to add a few to the card. For some reason lately, I've been very drawn toward shades of aqua/teal. . . .love it with white!

These flowers are so fun and easy to make, so be sure to check out Anita's video and give it a try!

Thanks for stopping by today and happy spring! :)

Latrice Needs Some Cards. . .

Hey everybody,

Enter my giveaway here.

I have a request. I was visiting Latrice Murphy's blog this morning and she could use some help. She works with another teacher, whose young child, Gavin has just been diagnosed with Leukemia. She would love it if we could each make a card or two, send them to her and she will get them to this family. It can be a card you've already got on hand, or a newly created one. You can make one for Gavin himself, (he is 3 years old) or his sister, Emille, who is 8, or for their parents, Nicole and Cory. Latrice's blog is called, Any Occasion. She has all the information you'll need and you can find it here.

I made a card for Gavin's parents. The nice thing about the Hero Arts, With Sympathy set, is that it can also be used for people going through any kind of difficult situation.

Stamped on the inside:

Thank you, in advance, to those of you who will be making a card and thanks for stopping by today!

Birthday Boys

Hi there!

There's still time to enter my giveaway! You can find it here.

March is a busy birthday month in my family. Both of my boys celebrate this month. It's difficult for me to make guy cards, so I tried to create ones that match their personalities.

My youngest son's special day is today! Happy Birthday, David! He is 16 today and a total joy in our lives. . .so full of energy and life! He has this wonderful ability to make us laugh each and everyday! We love you so much, Bud! Here's the card I made for David.

My older son, Erich will be 20 on Friday. Wow! Life sure goes by fast! Erich is the more serious one of the two. He amazes us with his brilliant intelligence and kind heart! He has a beautiful, gentle soul. Happy Birthday, Erich! We love you very much! Here is the card I made for Erich.

Erich's card was inspired by Hero hostess, Sharon. She made a gorgeous card for the Hero Arts blog yesterday, and I loved it! Thank you for the inspiration, Sharon!

Thanks for stopping by today and letting me share the love we have for our boys! :)

Celebrating 100 With a Giveaway!

Happy day, everyone!

Giveaway is now closed.

I'm very excited today because I've just reached 100 followers! Woo, hoo! I've been keeping an eye on the number for some time now. It was at 95 for quite awhile, then stayed at 99 until yesterday. A big thank you to Janet (jintyoo7) for getting that number from 99 to 100! To celebrate, I'd like to do a giveaway. I've made a card to thank you all. . . .

and I will also be giving away these fun goodies. . . .

The only thing you have to do to enter the contest, is to leave me a comment here on this post and become a follower (if you're not already.) That's it. . . . .so easy! I'll keep the drawing open until Sunday, March 20th, 11:00pm Central Time, and will draw a random winner from all the comments.

I have so many reasons to thank all of you, I don't even know where to start. Without my Flickr and blogging friends, I would have given up a long time ago. Some of you may know that I have never felt very crafty and I still, to this day, make some pretty strange and not so great cards. But with all of your encouragement and kind words, with your friendship and support, I have hung in there and absolutely LOVE this hobby! I am so very grateful for each and every one of you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now let's celebrate together! Don't ya just love that number. . . .100?! :)

Giveaway is now closed.

Waiting and Watching. . . . .and a Fun Day!

Hi all!

Just want to let everyone know that I've been watching the number of my followers for awhile now, and it is currently at 99! As soon as I get one more follower, and it hits 100, I will have a giveaway to celebrate and to thank all of you!

I had a fun day yesterday! Met with our Hero Arts hostess, Linda and other Flickr friend, Anne at Archiver's, in the Mall of America! We shopped, had coffee, talked and laughed! So nice to see both of them! Here we are, holding our new Hero Arts goodies.

And here's a card I made for a friend's birthday, with my new stamps.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend! I'm on vacation this week and loving it! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Edited to say a big thank you to Janet!! (jinty007) She just pushed me up to 100! YAY!! I'll post my giveaway tomorrow, so make sure to stop by then!
