Window Cards

I've been having fun creating window cards for this month's Hero Arts contest. This first one uses their So Thankful clear set. I stamped the little acorns on patterned paper, colored the images with Copics and paper pieced them. The pumpkins and sentiment are also from the same set.

For the second card, I played with different colors of Perfect Pearls mixed with water. I first white embossed the Hero Arts Envelope Pattern on a piece of white cardstock. Then I sprayed 3 different Perfect Pearl-colored water, using Perfect Bronze, Forever Green and Sunflower Sparkle. I really love the shimmer! After the piece had dried, I used an EK leaf punch. I wanted to keep the rest of the card very simple so the leaves could take center stage.

Here's another photo, taken inside with a flash, to show more of the shimmer.

Thanks for stopping by! The weather is still amazing. Suppose to be 86 degrees today and 88 tomorrow! Come on Summer. . .keep hangin' in there! Have a great Saturday, everyone! :)

Fall Flowers?

I'm trying to ease myself into Autumn. It's not an easy thing to do when you LOVE summer as much as I do. Here in Minnesota, fall is a beautiful season with changing leaves, bright blue skies and crisp, fresh air. But it also means that Old Man Winter is just around the corner and after last year's winter season, I am DREADING that!

So, with this card, I'm gently easing into the season by using a mix of colors. Some more summery and some leaning toward the fall tones.

The beautiful, delicate lace and sweet butterfly are from my good friend, Heather. She sent them along with a few ATC's and I love them! Thank you again, Heather!

The Hero Arts flowers are stamped and colored on canvas. I used a small piece of patterned paper, punched it with a scroll punch and added it to the edge of the main panel. The stamped leaves, pearls and sentiment are all from Hero Arts too.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm feeling even better today and am getting SO excited for Scrapfest next week! Only 7 more days! Have a great weekend! :)

You Mean So Much!

You Mean So Much! by bdengler4 (Barb)

Before getting sick, I had made a few cards for the September, Hero Arts challenge and I am finally feeling a bit better today. . .yay! :)

This card uses the Three Sunflowers, stamped on a piece of canvas that Charlene sent to me for winning her OZ-giveaway. . .thanks Charlene! I colored the flowers with Tombow Markers. It also happens to have a very appropriate sentiment because this is how I feel about all of you! Thank you so much, again, for the messages, hugs, and well wishes! I've missed you all very much!

We've had the most gorgeous weather this week! Although, I have not been able to enjoy it much. We've barely seen a cloud in the sky, warm temps in the high 70's and light winds. So beautiful! I plan on getting outside a bit today and maybe even going for a short walk. Feeling less pain and a bit more energy, now that I can finally eat solid food!

Thank so much for stopping by! :)

Here I Am

Hi everyone.

First, I want to thank all of you sooo much for the messages, caring thoughts, prayers and well wishes! I have really not been feeling well at all and you'll never know how much your kind words have helped.

I went to the doctor Tuesday and then onto the hospital for a CAT Scan. I had done a lot of research about my symptoms before the appointment and had a feeling as to what it was. It seems I was right and I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis. It happens when pouches form in the wall of the colon. If these pouches get inflamed or infected, it is called diverticulitis. It is quite painful on the left, lower side of the abdomen. So, I am on antibiotics, will be on a liquid-only diet for two days, then I am to slowly introduce more and more fiber into my diet.

This is actually good news. I was quite nervous. When you have pain like that and it doesn't go away, I think it's only natural to think the worst. So I'm very happy that it's something that is easily treated and taken care of. I won't be going to work the rest of this week because I'm not suppose to lift anything for awhile and l still will not be online much because it's most painful when I'm in a sitting position. As soon as the infection clears up and the pain subsides, I will be back at it. (Doctor says hopefully by Friday sometime.) I have missed crafting and miss all of you VERY MUCH!

Thanks again to everyone! I am very lucky to be a part of such a caring group of wonderful blogging and Flickr buddies! And to those of you going to Scrapfest, I'll see you there!! Nothing will stop me from being there. . .nothing!!! :)
