Virginia's View Challenge #5

Hey there!

I've been trying to come up with something different and creative for the 5th Challenge over at Virginia's View. A fun idea finally popped into my head, and just in the nick of time too!

You might remember the card I created here using Simon Says Stamp's Full Card Hexagons Die. It was showcased on the SSS blog in one of their "Spotted" posts awhile back. In that card, I used two of the Full Card Hexagons die-cuts to create an optical illusion of cubes.

So, I pulled out this fabulous die again last night, cut it out a few different times and just started to play. This is what I came up with.

I inked up the background with different shades of blues and greens, using Distress Inks, before adhering the layers of die-cuts. It was fun placing them down on top of each other to come up with that cool pattern. See the circle portion in the center? That's the third layer. I just cut off pieces of the die-cut to form the circle.

The sentiment was stamped and clear embossed on Vellum. It's from Hero Arts' clear sentiment set called, Friends.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope ya have a happy weekend! ♥

Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit!!

Hi everyone!

I was lucky enough to receive an August Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp to play with and is it ever a fun one! It's called Summer Dreams. There's a stamp set included in the kit called, Ice Cream Dream which is so adorable! There is also some patterned papers, cardstock, fun little paper embellies and two Distress Markers - Squeezed Lemonade and Peacock Feathers! I've created three cards using products from the kit.

All the papers you see are from the kit. I colored the ice cream bar with Copics, cut it out and covered the chocolate area with Glossy Accents. I stamped the tiny hearts, colored and cut them out before adding them to the card. And I love that cute sentiment included in the stamp set!

My next card has a few layers, using more papers from the kit.

It's difficult to see in the photo but I added some dimension by popping up the frame, popsicle and hearts. This time I colored the image with the Distress Markers that came in the kit. I had fun layering some of the cardstock, stripey frame and circle smile. I also stamped those hearts and used a tiny circle punch to cut them out. See that dotty green strip? That's one of the stamps from the kit and I stamped it using Green Apple Ink from SSS to get a tone-on tone effect with the Green Apple Cardstock. Then I used a white gel pen on a few of the dots. The sentiment was (very carefully) cut apart to fit my design.

And one more card.

Here, I used all three ice cream images from the stamp set. Again, the papers are from the kit, the yummy treats were colored with Copics and the Distress Markers from the kit. I white embossed the dots to frame out the center panel. I added colorful sprinkles to the ice cream scoop and I couldn't resist adding the cute smiley face (included in the stamp set) to the ice cream bar! Here's a close-up so you can see the sparkle from the Wink of Stella. (Can't stop using it on everything!)

Another adorable sentiment too!

If you're trying to decide whether to buy this kit, all I can say is, I KNOW you'll love it! It's so happy and fun and just perfect for summer cards!

Thanks for stopping by! ♥

Tulip Stencil - CAS Cards

Hello!

I'm back again today to share a couple of cards using the, Bouquet of Flowers Stencil from Simon Says Stamp's, This is the Life, new release.

This stencil has six flower images, two stems and a couple of leaves. I immediately fell in love with the tulip image and created two cards.

This first one was so quick and easy. Just some paper, ink and the stencil. I think it came together in about 10 minutes. That's one of  joys of stencils!

Distress Inks and a Mini Blending Tool made it so easy to use the stencil! That beautiful sentiment is from a set called, Friendship Messages. I adore this set and have been using it a lot lately. It has so many sentiments, perfect for lots of different card making occasions!

My second card has another very simple design but this time I used some Embossing Paste.

I colored the paste with Distress Paints before spreading it on the stencil. The sentiment is, again, from the Friendship Messages set. It's too bad you can't see the shimmer on the image from the Wink of Stella pen - so pretty in real life!

Please stop by tomorrow when I will be sharing a card or two using the Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit! Can't wait to show you!

Thanks for coming by to visit! Hope you all have a good week! ♥

You Are "Pawesome!" More New Goodies

Hi there!

If you're looking for the Simon Says Stamp, New Release blog hop, click here or scroll down a couple of posts.

I'm back again today with a couple more cards using another adorable stamp set from Simon Says Stamp! If you missed my fun, fishy cards in my last post, you can see them here

Today's stamp set is called, You Are Pawesome and it is also from Simon's new release, This is the Life.

First up, the puppy!

Isn't he the cutest? The sentiment is included in the set and I cut him out using the matching die set. I colored him with Copics and added some highlights with a white gel pen. Easy and fun!

And now for the kitty!

Of course, I had to make him a white kitty with pink ears and nose just like my sweet Murphy! That die-cut, "Pawesome" is included in the die set - love it! Another very simple card but so fun to create!

In case you've never seen Murphy, here he is, doing what he does best!

This next one cracks me up - he sleeps like this all the time!

Hope your weekend has been a good one! I'm heading to work soon - wish I could stay home - it's a gorgeous day!

Thanks for stopping by! ♥
