Something New For Me

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a good Wednesday! Last night I was having a fun time, jumping around to all the blogs I enjoy visiting. I had stopped at Lynda's blog where she posted a really neat link to a video tutorial on a card called "joy-fold." I watched the video and just HAD to try it! Now I know most of you have probably done this, or something similar (tri-fold) but I have never made one before. Of course it took me most of the night to finish, but it was so fun! Ya know that feeling, when you've gotten inspiration from somewhere, and you start pulling all the pieces together, and ya just get so excited?! Well, that's how it was for me! Sorry, I'll stop blabbering and show you the card now!

The little circle with the sentiment, holds down the folds.

Isn't that cool! I just love it! I've seen similar cards, like the tri-fold ones, from some of you ladies in the Flickr pool, but I didn't know how fun they were to create!! Why didn't anyone tell me that?! (just kidding!) All the paper used on the card is from a stack from S.E.I. called Aunt Gerti's Garden. It has lots of fun patterns in many of my favorite colors! I stamped the Hero Arts Hydrangea with ColorBox Orchid Pastel chalk ink, onto a scalloped circle Nestie. The Sentiment is also from Hero Arts.

So, if you happen to be like me, and have never tried one of these cards before, hop on over to Lynda's blog and click on the link! I'm tellin' ya, you're gonna love it! I want to thank Lynda for the link and for a wonderful blog that I love visiting for inspiration! I love looking at her photostream too.....take a look here. She has some beautiful creations! Have a warm and happy day! :)

Once More with Color Layering

Morning all!

Well, I started back at work, with a short shift last night. All day yesterday, I kept saying to myself that I wish I didn't have to go back! To my surprise, I had a nice evening of catching up on all the things that pile up when one goes on vacation. Today will be my first full day back in the flower department and even though I think I could easily be retired without getting bored, I am looking forward to seeing my wonderful customers, friends at work and of course all the gorgeous flowers!

I have a card to share today. I posted it in the Flickr pool yesterday, but not on my blog, because I wanted to share the fabulous card I received from Kathy Racoosin instead. If you didn't get a chance to see it, scroll down to the post just below this one.....you WILL NOT be disappointed!

One more thing before I show you my card. Make sure you pop on over to Dawn's blog for a wonderful giveaway to celebrate her 250th post! So nice of her! :)

Okay, here is my card for today.

The card base is a pre-made one from an old "Card Kit in a Stack" from DCWV that I found at Micheal's for $3.00. You didn't really think I actually added some sewing on a card, did you?!.......I didn't think so! I wanted to do another card with the color layering technique. The text in the background is an Inkadinkado stamp, and I also used the Silhouette Spray and Wild Bouquet, along with the sentiment, all from Hero Arts. Both butterfly punches are from Martha Stewart.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I'm off to play with the flowers! It's especially nice to do that, when the weather is rainy and gloomy like today. I hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday.....smile lots! :)
