Sympathy Card

Sympathy Card
Originally uploaded by bdengler4 (Barb)
I needed to make a sympathy card for my boss. She lost her father this week after a long illness. She is such a sweetheart, we all love her! I've worked at this job for 27 years and have had 12 or 13 different managers, and she is the best by far!

I stamped the grass and bird, with brown ink, on vellum. Then clear embossed and placed it over the brown card stock. The ribbon is a beautiful brown color, but the picture makes it look almost black.

I've been thinking a lot about my own father this week. He died over 30 years ago, when I was in high school. I love that my memories of him are still so vivid! He was a big beautiful man with a fabulous smile and zest for life. Love thinking about him!

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful day! We have one more here with cold, damp weather, then the warmth and sunshine returns! I'm so looking forward to it!!

What a thoughtful card for your boss.... it is lovely to give such wonderful creations that people know is made with love. And it's so cool you can still remember your own Dad with such love. It is very sad to have lost him when you were so young Barb. Hope your summer weather makes an appearance soon.... ours is lingering on instead of winter coming... today 22 degrees Celsius - when it should be around 17 or 18... not that I am complaining mind you. Have a great day

I know how you feel, Barb. My Father passed away 27 years ago, and I still miss him. I am sure your boss will appreciate such a lovely, thoughtful card.

Beautiful card Barb, not the greatest event to have to make a card for, but it is a fact of life, and you did such a great job!! Keep up the good work.

I miss working with co-workers, another draw back of being home on disability, not getting to interact with co workers!

And I agree with you about Dad's, mine was the same, and I was always Daddy's little girl, I still can see him like it was yesterday, and mine passed about, 32 years ago, and Mom about 5 years ago, it just good to have those fond memories.

Have a great weekend.

This is a lovely card, Barb, I'm sure it will bring comfort to your friend. Thanks for sharing your sweet thoughts of your dad. I too have found that treasured memories of our loved ones can bring comfort and a peaceful smile. I lost my mom 32 years ago and although I miss her everyday still, there is such peace in remembering our happy times together. I know that the passing of time will help me cope with losing my dad also.
bless you, Barb

Love your blog, Barb! Such a lovely sympathy card. I really want that grass stamp. I, too, lost my dad - 21 years ago! My mom died six years before he did. They, too, live on in my memory....we had some great times, they both loved life, and I remember fondly the laughs and joy they gave me. Blessings to you.

This is a really gorgeous monochromatic card, the warmth it emits is so thoughtful for a sympathy card! So lovely you keep your father close at heart to you Barb. I lost my dad 19 years ago, and am a bit sad that my little one will never really know him. The memories are definitely precious! Hugs!
