Been in Such a Funk

Hi ladies,

I've really been struggling lately, not only with creating cards but with trying to comment on other cards and blogs. It's as if my brain just won't let me do it. I think I may be on overload right now. Life sure can get out of hand sometimes, with way too many things going on at once. I usually handle times like this fairly well and I know eventually I'll catch up and things will calm down. So there are two things I want to let you know today. I am still looking at all the cards in the Flickr pool and visiting all of your blogs. I just need to back off a bit on the commenting so I can take some time for myself. I also want you to know that I'm trying to take the simple route when it comes to making cards for awhile. It seems to help me not stress about what I'm making and keeps it enjoyable, which is how it should be!

So I have two cards to show you today. They are both simple and quick. The first one uses a flower from the Hero Arts Real Flower set, embossed in yellow. The punched edge is EK's Daisy Chain.

For the second one, I stamped the Dandelion in white on a pink card base, layered some pretty pink and green, floral and striped patterned paper and placed a die cut over the layers. The die cut is stamped and clear embossed with the Graph Background. The butterfly is almost a year old. I colored it in, using a mix of liquid pearls and water. That's why it looks like two different colored pinks. The shimmer shows more on the left because of the angle of the flash when taking the picture.

I have one more thing to show you. It's a photo of my mom's hands. I love this picture. We were all given a copy of it yesterday when we were over at her house, going through all her things. When I look at this photo, I can see the years of hard work, experience and love in these hands. The ring you see on her left hand was also given to me. It feels so good to have something of hers close to me. I will treasure it for many years to come.

Thanks for stopping by today. I really do appreciate each and every visit! I'll be happy when the week winds down and I'm really looking forward to Saturday! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Barb, don't worry about commenting! You've always so good at it and sometime your own personal life has to take priority over card making. :) We'll be here and for now take care of yourself. I feel overwhelmed myself every now & then.

And, TFS the picture. Simple picture but spoke thousands of words. I know you miss her a lot. May her memories comfort you. Hugs, Vera.

Barb, don't worry about commenting! As I've said before I don't know how you do it all - you really deserve a break! I've had no computer since Monday and I know it will be impossible to catch up on everything so I'm just going to enjoy seeing what I can and not stress about it.

Both of you cards today are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing the photo of your mom's hands. I love Virginia's idea of scrapbooking the photo, I'm sure you would make a very special layout.

I totally know how you feel girly!! It happens to us all! There are times when I do not even feel like getting on my computer, and you know what, I just say to myself if I don't feel like it, then I shouldn't and just relax! Good for you for winding down a bit and taking time for yourself, so very important, we love you, you know that! Hugs! Love the simplicity of your cards, simple cards always have the perfect touch!

Lovely, lovely picture of your Mom's hands, Barb. What Tif said above is so true. Just because you're a Hostess doesn't mean that you have to give up your life for it.....that's why there are many of you at a time! So take a week or so off, and just recharge. We all need that once in awhile! Sending hugs.

Now, on to your simply beautiful cards! Great colors on the first- so bright and unexpected. I love the second card, but of course you know how I feel about butterflies. :)

The picture of your mom's hands is beautiful. So touching. Thanks so much for sharing it!

I just wrote you the most lovely comment ever and then I lost it when I realized my son was signed in instead of me. Of course I can't remember a word of it so I hope you will know I'm thinking of you and keeping you in prayer, sweet friend.

Hi Barb, Please don't fret over the commenting thing. You are always the first one to jump on the comments! Take some time for yourself to refresh, and to just "be." Sometimes you just need to kick back for a while. I love your cards; the first one is striking with it's colors, and it's simplicity is what makes it! The second is just plain lovely. Very pretty, clean, and designed perfectly. Love the glimmery butterfly.

Hi Barb- love your wonderful cards cards and the picture of your mom is just so sweet. I'm blessed to have my mom still even though I don't appreciate her enough. I feel what you are going through- no time to comment much and not much mojo either. Don't forget to take time for yourself and don't worry a bit if you can't comment very much- we all need to take a break here and there- even you!
I'm getting excited for Scrapfest and the chance to finally meet you in person Barb- it can't come soon enough!

Hugs, Anne

I know exactly how you feel Barb. Life is way too busy for me too and it's so hard to comment even though I so want to. So, I say, take a break and slow down a bit. I love your cards today. I especially love the shimmer on the butterfly. So pretty! And thanks for sharing that pic. It's such a beautiful pic and so sweet that you now have your Mom's ring. I'm sure it means the world to you.

Hi Barb. Just getting back from vacation and checking blogs that I haven't for over a month now. Nice long break and it sounds like you need one too. You are so kind with your comments - always! I couldn't believe you had already commented on my post today. As much as I love reading your comments, please take the time you need. I went through most of your posts I've missed and they are all so pretty though the two monochromatic cards really stood out for me - just lovely! Take care.
