What a Mess! (and a card)

Hey ladies!

I had a bit of an accident in the craft room today. None of you know me well enough to realize what a klutz I can be. Most of the people in my life continually tell me to slow down. I walk way too fast, always want to "just get it done" and very rarely even sit down. (except when making cards.) It's your typical Type A personality! So I had just finished a card that I'll show you in a minute. The drawer, where I keep all my Distress Inks, inking tools, VersaMark and foam blending pads, was wide open. I walked around it to put away my basket of pearl embellies, and when I turned to come back to the desk, my leg hit the drawer and "BAM" down went the drawer, everything spilling everywhere!

My first reaction was to gasp in complete and utter disbelief! Then I realized it would make for a good post on the old blog. So after taking a photo, I gathered up the mess, put it back in the drawer, nice and neat, and everything is back to normal again. Here is what it USUALLY looks like. Much better, don't ya think?

So after all that, I can finally show you the card I had finished before the drawer fell out of the desk.

I used one of my favorite flourish stamps called Swirl with Flowers. I clear embossed the image onto white, water color paper. To get the resist look I created a mixture of water with Worn Lipstick and Wild Honey Distress Inks, on my craft sheet, and smooshed the panel with the flourish, all around in the colors. After it was dry I stamped Old Letter Writing with Vintage Photo ink. I also gave it a bit more shading and distressing with the same ink. I used Tim Holtz's distress tool on the edges. (Love that tool!) The scalloped strip is a Martha Stewart punch, the sentiment is from the All Occasions Message set that I use all the time, and I added a few Hero Hues pearls.

Now to tell you about the dragonfly. It was a gift from Trinh. She is so sweet! It's actually a digi image she sent to me and I painted it, again with a mix of Distress Inks and water. I added my new favorite stickles, Rock Candy, to give it a cool sparkly look. I love the way it turned out! Thanks, Trinh! Here is a close-up.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Gorgeous, Barb! Love the autumn feel with the oranges, and I really am liking your new header! I have a new design all picked out for my blog, an autumn one, and I am making myself wait until September, but after seeing yours my will-power is waning.

Gosh Barb I was thinking the worst- like you dumped a hot steamy cup of coffee all over a pile of cards or something- thankfully it was only your drawers of inks and such! I do this kind of stuff too often soi you are not the only klutz.......I love the way you have your inks and foams stored so nice and neat! Geeze- Before I forget- your card is GORGEOUS!!

Great card after all that, Barb! At least you didn't upend any inks onto the carpet (at least it doesn't look like it from the photo). I have all sorts of ink stains from my little craft accidents!

Beautiful card Barb! I love the warm colors. Oh, and I love the way you store your distress ink foam pads in the original packaging thingy. Great idea!

What a funny post Barb! You made me laugh. I thought for sure there would be ink on the carpet. You are brave to have carpet in your craft area. I am far to messy for that. Your card turned out just lovely. Lots of pretty details!

Beautiful card! Love the distressing and the dragonfly... I had one of those moments when I wasn't even in the room. I think my supplies were trying to run away. :)

So funny and sweet! I LOVE how you have your ink organized, though! Maybe you could show your stamp organization as well, since that's the real problem for me. :)
What a beautiful card - I'm usually not a fan of orange, but this is fabulous!

Hi Barb, love your buterfly card--it is gorgeous. The destressing is also beautiful--great card. Don't feel bad about your desk drawer spilling, you are not alone--I am always doing something like that.

You are so adorable...the only that photo of your upended drawer was missing was the crime scene tape and CSIs. Sounds like you need to bubble wrap yourself.
I love your card, that technique is one of my favorites for putting on lots of color. I really must get that Flourish with Flowers stamp, every time you use it I admire it so much. Love that dragonfly too, your painting is perfect!
blessings to you sweet friend!

LOL - Barb you nut me up! I can tell that "waste not, want not" is your motto. Not everyone can recycle a disaster into a blog post!

Hi Barb! So glad you weren't hurt! And you organize very well--care to come over and organize my ink pads?? Love your card! That is one gorgeous dragonfly! Have a great--and safe--weekend!

Ooh WOW! Barb I so love your card, it is truly beautiful, loving the hues of the card, so fitting as you will be heading into Autumn soon and that Dragon fly is superb. Also, if you think you are a klutz then you should work with me, I seem to be a dropsy sort of person, as my mind is always thinking of what I need to do next and never on what I should be doing in the present. Hope your leg is okay and well have to admit the draw now looks nice a pretty! Hugs sweet friend!
