Feeling Crazed!

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed lately. Managing the floral department in a grocery store, this time of year, will do that to you. It happens every year, but as I get older, it seems to get a bit more difficult. Can you say, retire? :) I would love to be able to do that right now, but I know that is still a few years away. I am thinking about taking an extra day off each week though. I work everyday of the week, except Saturday, and I don't know how much longer I'll be able to continue with that schedule. It isn't as difficult as it sounds because my shifts are fairly short. . .only 5 1/2 hours long, but it would still be nice to have that extra day off. Even if it's just to play catch-up around the house. *sigh*

So enough about me and my tired body! I wanted to share some cards I've made lately, using patterned paper. Not too long ago, I didn't feel like I was even able to try using patterned paper on a card. I had a hard time figuring out what looked good with what, which patterns looked good together and where they should be placed on the card. Because of the fabulously talented ladies in the Hero Arts Flickr group, I now feel better about using pp on a card. Here are three cards made using pp. Each one also uses a different Hero Arts tree stamp. I really like how they all turned out.

This one uses paper from K&Company's Yuletide paper pack. I stamped the Music Background onto the green snowflake paper.

I used the gorgeous paper from BasicGrey's Jovial paper pad for this card.

This one is fun because it uses the die cut shapes from the BoBunny Noteworthy Journal pages. Love these!

One more thing before I go. Jenny is having a huge blog candy giveaway! Just click on the photo over to the right on my sidebar to enter!

Thanks for stopping by today! I know I haven't been blogging lately and that will probably continue through the holidays, but I'm going to try really hard to at least put up a blog post once a week because I love doing it and miss it when I'm not able to. Have a fabulous Thursday! I'm off work. . .lots of wreaths and poinsettias coming in today! Love the painted poinsettias! I'll take some photos to share soon. :)

Hi Barb I see you have 3 cards today what you could do is share 1 a day and set the blog posts at once for a few days, that way you blog more? I always intend to do that but never actually do! I can't beleive you work 6 days a week! That is so much and even if they are short shifts! Where I currently work some people do that, I don't since I stay at home but every so often I have 5 shifts in a week which is crazy for me and they say they may need me a sixth I get mad at them! Most jobs I have had only allowed people to work 5 which is what I think should be common practice. Asking for 6 is almost taking advantage of you! Your not getting younger and why stress yourself out and miss out on life? Go down to 5 Barb please! Do you do it all year or just at Christmas? I hope you don't mind me saying this! :> My favorite of the cards is the top one! I love those papers with that stamp! I found using pp so difficult too but now that I distress it with ink it's so much easier to get it to go! BTW Why didn't you enter this into this week's Wee Memories Challenge? Do it, I love them! Wow this is a LONG comment! :>

All these cards are gorgeous, Barb! Wonderful designs and details! Great combinations of pps too! I hope you get your extra day off each week - I couldn't imagine working a 6 day week! There are so many special occasions during the year that you must nearly go straight from one hectic time right into the next. Take care and look after yourself well:)

Dear Dear Barb
You do exceptionally well blogging as often as you do with the hours that you work and caring for your family. Take a little pause and read your blog header, it should give you the incentive to drop a day at leas, take your own advice Barb and make the decision now. The great advantage about having friends virtually is that you can sound off your frustrations at any time and there will be people who understand completely how you feel. You have already had some positive responses use them Barb and feel good about it........
Your cards are wonderful, it is a good eye that can mix PP together, you have succeeded very well. Gosh I have written a long post too it is only because I care you have been a good friend to me since I started up my Blog and I want you to know it is very much appreciated, Thank You heaps. Hope you have a good weekend.
Smiles:)

I think you did a wonderful job with the pp's, so much fun, aren't they? Once I get addicted to pp, I just keep wanting more and more and hoard them too much. Hope you will be able to get an extra day off to help relieve the stress! Wishing you well, my friend!

awesome cards Barb. I'm not good with colours and patterns together either but I hope I can do as well as you... Take things easy my friend... you don't want to burn out... working 6 days a week is hard even with shorter hours.... still so much to do in the rest of the days....

Hey Barb!! I love your fist card! I also have the K&Co Yuletide papers...I love them! Coordinating patterns almost take the guess work out of "what looks good together". I love that you stamped the green pp with music background...have to try that! Thanks for the inspiration!
