Tissue Paper Technique

Hello there!

One day last week, I was visiting my favorite blogs and saw a technique using tissue paper. Of course I can't remember whose blogs they were but there were two or three people who had made cards using this fun technique. You take a stamped image (or die cut in my case) and swirl around some glue all over it, then place tissue paper on top and run it through an embossing machine without a folder. Hope that makes sense because I've tried to find the video of it and have had no luck. . .so sorry!

Anyway, I also wanted to make another card for Lisa's Make-It Mail-It #3 challenge, even though I've missed the deadline. My first entry didn't really use any recycling, like Lisa did on her own card, so I decided to use this bright, colorful bag.

I ran two pieces of the bag through the Cuttlebug, using different sizes of the same Spellbinders die cut, then added soft lavender tissue paper. The scored lines were made with the Martha Stewart Scoreboard, which I bought with a 50% off coupon! Yay! The butterfly was embossed in white and colored in, using a lavender colored marker.

Here's a close-up of the crinkly tissue. . .looks really cool in real life.

I love the way the tissue softened the bold colors of the bag! It's a really fun technique and if any of you know the link to the video tutorial, please share it with me and I'll add it to this post.

Thanks for coming by today! I'm eagerly awaiting the return of some sunshine. It's been raining so much here, by the time I"m able to mow the lawn, my grass will be knee high!

Edited: Thank you to Dawn! She gave me the link to the video tutorial here.
And thank you to Paula for letting me know about the Die Cut Diva's June challenge!

Have a fab day! :)

The dusky mauves and wispy white, this is a thought provoking, mystical palette, creating a sense of surreal, it has a quietness about it Barb, the card is very beautiful.
