Here I Am

Hi everyone.

First, I want to thank all of you sooo much for the messages, caring thoughts, prayers and well wishes! I have really not been feeling well at all and you'll never know how much your kind words have helped.

I went to the doctor Tuesday and then onto the hospital for a CAT Scan. I had done a lot of research about my symptoms before the appointment and had a feeling as to what it was. It seems I was right and I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis. It happens when pouches form in the wall of the colon. If these pouches get inflamed or infected, it is called diverticulitis. It is quite painful on the left, lower side of the abdomen. So, I am on antibiotics, will be on a liquid-only diet for two days, then I am to slowly introduce more and more fiber into my diet.

This is actually good news. I was quite nervous. When you have pain like that and it doesn't go away, I think it's only natural to think the worst. So I'm very happy that it's something that is easily treated and taken care of. I won't be going to work the rest of this week because I'm not suppose to lift anything for awhile and l still will not be online much because it's most painful when I'm in a sitting position. As soon as the infection clears up and the pain subsides, I will be back at it. (Doctor says hopefully by Friday sometime.) I have missed crafting and miss all of you VERY MUCH!

Thanks again to everyone! I am very lucky to be a part of such a caring group of wonderful blogging and Flickr buddies! And to those of you going to Scrapfest, I'll see you there!! Nothing will stop me from being there. . .nothing!!! :)

This is good news ,Barb. I know you are so relieved. I was hoping your appointment was yesterday . Now,you can rest ,take your medicine, and look forward to feeling better soon. Really,a liquid diet isn't bad, think "milk shakes" !
Take care .I'm thanking God right now.

So glad you have an answer and it is not the "worst". I think it is natural for your mind to wander there. Glad you are feeling a little better and hope you are 100% soon!!

Oh wonderful that is something easy to treat, but so sorry you're in pain and not able to be "with us". I know what you mean about being worried and nervous ;I've been through several "scares" this year with migraines and female issues. Get better!
hugs,

Well I am pleased to hear that you are okay Barb. Diverticulitis is not pleasant, it is more a nuisance than anything else, you will have to watch your weight as it is very easy to loose pounds with this problem, and although we strive to keep the inches off I don't think you can afford to loose any to start with!
Keep eating the porridge!

Barb, so glad you will be feeling better in a few days! I know it is a relief to know for sure and have an end in sight. My husband has this, and has had a few attacks so I know how painful they are. We have researched a lot and changed our diet to help keep the attacks away. Also have to make sure he drinks enough fluids during the day! Get some rest and look forward to seeing your creations again soon!

Barb, this is such a relief! I have it and have kept it abated for 20 years now! Yes, you have to remember to keep drinking liquids. That is key. I do miss a good everything bagel now and then! I guess I can save the card I made for you last night - that's a GOOD thing!! Be well sweetie. xoxo

Oh Barb! So happy that you have it figured out and that you're on the mend! My Gran had that and it was really scary at first when she didn't know what it was. She couldn't eat seeds tho -- especially strawberries! -- and that was really hard on her.

Big HUGE hugs to you, my sweet friend! :)

Dear Doctor Barb: Thank goodness that you went for car as soon as possible. I have ben thinking of you so much and sending my best wishes. I don't have computer access this week, but I went to the library just to check in. Know it isn't fun, but at least it is fixable. But even those high doses of antibiotics aren't fun. I will keep you in my best thoughts and prayers. xox

Barb, I am so thankful the doctor had an answer for you! Sending lots of healing thoughts your way for a quick recovery. Both my mom and brother have had divert...(can't spell it!) too and are careful what they eat to make sure it doesn't recur. Missing your craftiness but am so glad you're starting to feel better.
