Love, Hate Relationship With Mondays.

Hi there, and happy Monday!

I love Mondays because I usually have the day off from work. I have done nothing but play with inks and stamps today, and have loved every minute of it!

But there is a flip side . . .

I also feel guilty because nothing, and I mean nothing else, got done! (At least not yet.) I've got about two hours now to get my butt in gear, clean up the house a bit, do some laundry and make it at least look like I did SOMETHING today, before my hubby walks in the door! Shhhh, don't tell him! :)

Anyway, I'll share a couple of cards I made with you. This first one uses the Hero Arts Newspaper Tulips. I stamped them with silver ink and clear embossed. Then stamped again, using second generation stamping, to achieve a shadow effect. I do love silver and purple together!

I was inspired to create this next card after reading Marcy's discussion thread, over in the Hero Arts Flickr pool. It discusses "off the edge" cards, which are so fun to make!

I used Shari Carroll's fun coloring technique, and finger painted Broken China and Vintage photo inks, onto the white embossed, Newspaper Flower, also from Hero Arts.

Here's another angle of the card so you can see what it looks like when opened.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful, crafty week! :)

Fabulous card, Barb! I love the off the edge technique; haven't used it in a long time. The finger painting looks great on this huge flower, too.

Lovely! Both Cards are wonderful!
Must have a go at one of the on the edge cards next.

I'll let you into a little secret ... When I realised I hadn't read the Splash Challenge properly I did another option with Pink lol!

Hope you had a lovely day!

Love your cards today, Barb! Every once in awhile it's okay to have a day just for you and what you enjoy doing; don't feel guilty. So glad you had time to play!

Oh my Barb, can I identify with your dilemma re the household chores!
And no matter how good I feel inside when I am creating, when I return to the real world, normally with a jolt; inevitably the blasted phone will ring.....
who cares if the kitchen is flooding! Ha.
It is okay to have a free day to yourself, one should not work for others needs ALL the time...... But it won't make a damn bit of difference how much you tell yourself this, you will still have the guilts.
Your first card in the elegant softer tones of Purple has a real delicacy about it and your Silver image, because it has Grey undertones adds sophistication.
Your second creation is more playful, as you have created movement with the design with your large flower, and placing it off the edge adds a tactile quality to the card.
They are both delightful Barb.
Smiles:)

Oh my goodness those cards are worth not getting the housework done! But I know exactly whereof you speak sister. I feel the same way!! I can spend hours crafting but there's always this little tiny voice in my head listing the "other" things I should be doing. Arrgg...it's frustrating. Oh, you're secret's safe with me...there's been many a day when it's 30 min. before dh is due home that I make a mad dash to get my clothes on (been in my pj's), get my makeup on and dinner started! LOL. My dh does not care one little bit if I stayed in pj's and no makeup, he loves that I have the time now after raising 3 kids to do what I like. Just can't quiet that little voice...

Your post cracked me up Barb. That was 100% me yesterday. I did a quick clean so that I didn't feel as guilty about being in the craft room for a couple cards!

And...I love the lavender and silver together! Stunning!

I love your cards today Barb.....the "edge" one is fabulous and the pearl detail on your tulip card is lovely. I completely know what you mean about feeling guilty when taking a day or time for myself....but sometimes you just have too!

Barb, don't feel guilty about the housework, the thing is no matter how often you do it, you have to do it again soon, so why not leave it and do it next week. Just keep the lights low and hubbie won't notice the dust!

Lovely cards, the shadow effect works so well.
