Day 6 - Fun Die-Cutting

Hi there!

Just a short post tonight. I've been very busy with family, work and other fun stuff, so I've gotten a bit behind on my homework for the Stretch Your Stamps class.

There was a bonus day on Saturday, and the lesson was about using our stamp and die-cut combos. Jennifer McGuire shared a video showing us a fun technique where her die-cut butterfly extended over the side-edge of her card. I wanted to use a floral stamp instead, and also try doing the technique from the top of my card. It took two times to get it right, but it's always fun trying, even when it doesn't work the first time. Here's my result.

I used the Hero Arts Lattice stamp for one of the strips and some pretty Distress Inks, in Shaded Lilac and Mowed Lawn, to stamp the flower and little butterfly from the Sizzix/Hero Arts Floral stamp/die-cut set. This was definitely my favorite day of class so far!

Thanks for your visit! :)

Oh, I'm so glad to hear you loved the class! Such a clever idea to die-cut off the edge. Very pretty stamps and I love how you used the lattice background for a border.

You did such a great job. I got stuck with the butterfly...and I would never thought to use another die. Thanks for the inspiration!

Gorgeous. I wanted to try this with a flower stamp/die as well. You have done an awesome job on this one Barb. This is my most favourite day so far as well.

Isn't this a fun technique? I love the flower and butterfly coming off the edge of the card. Gorgeous colors, too!

Your card is so sweet and dainty. Stamping is so much fun and doesn't it feel daring sometimes to let things hang over the edge of a page. We are such wild paper crafters! :D
Thank you for sharing your beautiful card! :)

I keep wishing I had signed up for the class but I know I wouldn't have been able to do the assignments. You, however, are doing a wonderful job! This is so pretty & I love how you used just part of the lattice background on the side.
