In the last couple of Kickstart classes, they talked about how we all need to let ourselves just play. Sit down at your craft desk, take out some paper, stamps, inks, markers, etc, and just play. Do it for no other reason but to have fun. Not to make a card, not to beat a deadline, not to join in a challenge, but just for the sheer joy of playing with this wonderful hobby of ours.
I actually do this quite often. More times than not, I stamp an image and color it, and then have no idea how I'm going to use it on a card. It usually gets put away for awhile, until I come up with a card that needs that certain image. So for me, this was sort of normal, but I decided to play with something I haven't used in a very long time - Dimensional Pearls.
For those of you who don't know, it is not the same thing as Liquid Pearls or Perfect Pearls. It's a bit thicker than Liquid Pearls, and when mixed with water, becomes more of a pearlescent, acrylic glaze. I used the colors, Stream and Wild Plum, mixed heavily with water. I swirled a small paint brush into the mix and splattered and dabbed it onto watercolor paper. I liked the way it turned out and actually used it on a card right away this time - yay! :)
I had a piece of the panel left over and didn't want to waste it, so I punched out some butterflies and created a CAS sympathy card.
So don't forget to sit down and just play once in awhile - with no deadlines or even cards in mind - just have fun and ENJOY it!
Thanks for your visit! :)

Barb, these are so pretty. Love this technique that you shared. I do a lot of playing too! When I have to "think" to enter some challenge I get way too stressed, so I enjoy just playing and seeing what happens.
Thanks for sharing!
I like to just play too sometimes. Love your background!
