A Glittery Weekend

Happy Saturday!

I love glitter - don't you?! I know, I know, it gets everywhere, even on the my kitty, but I still love it, especially for Christmas cards!

Awhile back, Jennifer McGuire shared how she's been using glitter lately, and I wanted to give it a try. She uses double-sided tape - actually, they're double-sided "sheets." Then she adds the glitter and burnishes it with a bone folder. I love how easy this technique is, and you can die-cut with it, stamp on it, color it with markers or Alcohol Inks - endless possibilities!

So, I've been playing lots with the double sided sheets and glitter, and have been loving the results!

For this first card, I just cut a double-sided sheet into the shape of a hill, stuck it onto some white cardstock, pulled off the red covering to expose the stickiness and added my glitter. I then added that to the bottom of my card - so easy!

I wanted to see if I could use two different glitter colors, so I tried it on this next card and it worked great! I wanted it to look more blended, with no distinct line in between the colors, so I just added some of the blue glitter right over the top of the white, before burnishing it. I even stamped the sentiment directly onto the glittery hill - so fun! And do you see my sky? I inked it with Memento Summer Sky ink, then used my Snow Cap Acrylic Paint Dabber to add some whispy clouds.

The neat thing about this technique is after burnishing the glitter with a bone folder, the glitter stays on really good and there is no mess - love that!

I'm working on a little tutorial using the same technique with die-cuts and more stamping on top of the glitter. As soon as I have all the photos uploaded, I'll share it with you.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

Beautiful cards, Barb! I love the way your blue "melts" into the white - so pretty. What kind of glitter did you use? I have some of those double sided sheets somewhere; guess I should pull them out and try this.

This technique is the coolest. I'm glad you gave it a try, I think I am going to try now. The blending of the glitter turned out so great, and both cards are amazing.

I do love glitter, especially this time of year. Your cards are beautiful, adding the blue glitter to the white was a great idea, it blends so well. What did you use to adhere the banner on the first card - I have trouble getting anything to stick to the glittered parts.

I do like glitter on Christmas cards too, it's just so festive! Your "shading" of the snowy hill with glitter is so pretty Barb, I'm going to have to try out that technique!
