New Contest, New Card!

Happy New Year!

Today, Hero Arts started a new monthly contest and I couldn't wait to play along! It's all about something new. There is also a color challenge, which I hope to play with soon, and their technique this month is ATC's.

I'm also entering this into A Blog Named Hero's challenge, which is all about something new too.

For my card today, I decided to not only use a couple of new 2013 Hero Arts stamps, I also wanted to try a new (to me) technique. I saw this on the Hero Arts blog awhile back. Julie Ebersole shared a card and video with this fun technique. She used it on the sentiment of her card here.

I decided to use the same technique on the whole Number Pattern background cling stamp.

I colored the entire stamp with a Scattered Straw Distress Marker, then tapped/pounced a Wild Honey marker all over, on top of the lighter color. Love the way it turned out! Here's a close-up.

I'm saving this card for my Hubby's birthday in March! I think he'll like it.

Thanks for coming by! I hope this new year brings lots of crafty fun for all of us! :)

Hello Barb
isn't it exciting to try something new, and how satisfying when it works out so well. Your background is busy and eye-catching. And I am sure your husband is going to love what you have made him.

Barb, this looks amazing! I was just thinking that the colors make for a perfect masculine card and then read that you'll be giving it to your husband. How perfect! (I think you should enter it into the PC Gallery, all about milestone birthdays too, if you haven't already.) Love that the background takes center stage until you get to the focal panel with the birthday information too. All around a really cool card.
