Inked Embossing

Hi there!

Another week has flown by - does anybody else feel like summer is going way too fast?! Seems to happen every year. *sigh*

I've got a set of cards to share with you today. I used a fun technique many of you already know about, but awhile ago, Jennifer McGuire shared a cool twist on it. Check out her post and video here.

Basically, you ink up your embossing folder before running it through your die-cutting machine, then you take a coordinating ink color and gently swipe it across just the raised areas of your embossed panel. I had such fun playing with this technique that I decided to create a set of cards.

I used embossing folders from Lifestyle Crafts, Spellbinders and Cuttlebug. The inks are from Simon Says Stamp, Hero Arts, and Tim Holtz.

I recently picked up the Loads of Tags set by Simon Says Stamp and love it! It comes with two different stamp sets called, Tiny Tags and Tiny Tag Words, and also a set of tiny tag dies. These sets can each be purchased separately too.

Here are a couple of close-ups.

You don't always get an even ink coverage with this technique but that's okay. I think it adds a fun effect, don't you?

Aren't those little tags the cutest? Love that you can stamp the tag-shape right onto the die-cut, and the words fit perfectly too!

One more close-up. . .

See the heart one? I used Simon Says Stamp Dye Ink in Fog to ink up the embossing folder and paired it with their Lavender Ink. The two colors are so pretty together, especially in real life!

I used the same ink pads to shade the strips of cardstock and added some fun enamel dots to finish off each card.

That's it for me - I'm heading outside, as usual - gotta enjoy these beautiful, summer days as much as possible! Thanks for stopping by today - hope you are all enjoying your week! ♥

Hello Barb,
The set of cards are very pretty, and would make a lovely gift, the technique is always a surprise when you remove the folder, I love techniques like that even though sometimes it does not come out so well.

Really gorgeous card set, Barb! I love how you mixed and matched the colors...especially the fog and lavender hearts! And, I love how you played with those charming tags, too! As always, you've done an amazing job showcasing Simon's products...really crossing my fingers that you make the team, too!

Also, I wanted to thank you so much for all of your sweet Birthday wishes yesterday...I truly appreciate it!!! Enjoy your summer weather...you certainly deserve it living in your neck of the woods :-)

Saw this on JM's blog and loved it. Yours are great! I'd love to know the name of the EF with all the little hearts. I thought it might be a newer Cuttlebug folder, but I clicked on your link and it took me to all the Cuttlebug folders at SSS. My magnifying mouse does not agree with their new website (neither do my bad eyes) so I wasn't going to fight it to try to look at every one of them. If you know the name of it, I'm at cocrafter@gmail.com Thanks!!!!
